Everyone says you shouldn’t talk to strangers. However, if someone falls in love with a stranger, and marries them, it’s all good, right? Because you fell in love! You couldn’t help it!
I love talking to strangers, but I’m afraid of marrying one. The scary thing is that it seems like you can fully know your spouse, and then they become these nightmarish serial rapists. At least, that’s what happened in Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry.
Every story starts out the same way: a magical meeting, falling in love, then marriage. These people met in church. They met at restaurants. At malls. Some women waited for YEARS before agreeing to marriage.
However, whether they got married two months or two years after they met, their spouses all changed! Either they were serial killers, or rapists, or on the run from the law…one man was a spy for the Cuban government!!!!
He was a spy, and the marriage was a part of his cover. Unhappy couple.
Ever since I watched that show, I’ve been scared that a Peeping Tom has been watching me change, or that a killer was going to hide under the table I have on my deck and then break in and kill me using my dull kitchen knives. But what scares me most is that you could take your time in courtship, marry someone you’re madly in love with, and then watch them confess to killing 48 women.
My friend’s girlfriend works for a firm that runs background checks on people, so I tried to figure out how to hire her. Turns out I’d have to hire a private investigator.
I just don’t want to get married and come up missing.
But I realized that I need to calm down. I know which strangers to hang out with because I am constantly in prayer. God lets me know who to speak to and when to keep it moving. If things get serious with a guy, I might get that background check, but right now, having a private investigator on retainer doesn’t really make much sense.
Moral of the story? Talk to strangers, but don’t marry one.
STAY ALIVE! DON’T END UP CHOPPED UP, WRAPPED IN A RUG, OR BURIED IN A SHALLOW GRAVE.
Also, don’t read too much about serial killers late at night.
for real though.
