I’m writing you from my bed.
My plans for this evening were canceled and I shamelessly whooped with joy for an evening of rest (and Netflix).
So it sucks to have a lingering cold. But I do like to count my blessings, so…here is what I LOVE about being sick.

Whenever I’m sick, I make chicken tortilla soup. Shredded chicken, jalapeño, red and green peppers, onions, cilantro…ahh, cilantro. I’m in heaven. And I never can only eat one bowl.
2. Cold Medication that knocks you out.
I used to LOVE Dimetapp as a kid. If they sold that as juice I would be all over it. These days I just pop a random assortment of cold medication pills. As long as it knocks me out, I’m happy. No more making to-do lists in my head as I fall asleep, or worrying about everything I still want to achieve before I die.
Hot peach or ginger lemon tea with real honey is so very good. Especially when you wake up coughing at 4 am.
4. All Day PJs
Oh. my. gosh. I love looking great, but when I’m ill, I need to live in bad sweatpants and old t-shirts and hoodies. I trade the high heels for socks, the pencil skirt for baggy sweats, and I shuffle around my apartment looking utterly hopeless. It’s a vacation from fashion.
5. Daytime television
When I’m home, I curl up on my loveseat and watch Judge shows all. day. long. They make me feel so much better about my life. After all, I have a cold, not a lawsuit. I’m blessed.
Thank God for Netflix. When I’m sick, when I’m cooking, when I’m doing my nails, when I’m doing my hair–Netflix is there to entertain me. I own over 100 films and television shows, yet Netflix is what I turn to, especially when I’m sick. I can watch it in bed!
